Organ Failure Patients Alliance
501(c)(3) nonprofit

Helping patients find hope through organ donation.

We stand with people facing organ failure, advocating, raising awareness, and showing up in person to help them reach a life-saving transplant.

Every gift is tax-deductible and goes straight to patient support.

An Alliance member gently hands a bag of medication to an older man steadying himself on a walker in his living room.
Real people. Delivered to patients' doors.

One person's decision can save an entire waiting room.

There are far more people who need organs than there are organs available. Awareness, education, and support close that gap, giving patients a second chance at life.

8
Lives from one donor
A single donor can save up to eight lives through organ donation, and many more through tissue donation.
Sooner
Transplants, not waiting
Living donation lets patients receive a transplant before they become critically ill or spend years on a list.
Regrows
The liver regenerates
Because the liver regrows, a healthy living donor can give part of theirs and still recover fully.

This is what showing up looks like.

No stock photos. These are our members, out at donor drives, picking up prescriptions, getting patients to dialysis, sitting with them in the hospital, and delivering the essentials that help people heal at home.

A future where no patient dies waiting for a life-saving organ transplant.

The Organ Failure Patients Alliance helps patients suffering from organ failure obtain life-saving transplants through public education, community outreach, patient advocacy, and organ-donation awareness.

We work to increase the number of registered organ donors, to support patients and their families throughout the transplant journey, and to promote the importance of both living and deceased organ donation.

And when a patient simply needs a hand, we show up.

Two ways one person changes another's life.

Organ donation saves lives in two very different circumstances. Understanding both is the first step toward closing the gap between patients and the organs they need.

Living donation

Giving while you're alive and well.

A healthy person voluntarily donates an organ, or part of one, to help someone who needs a transplant, and goes on living a full life.

Why it matters

  • Patients can be transplanted before they become critically ill.
  • Shorter waits, and often organs that work sooner and last longer.
  • Both surgeries can be planned for the best possible time.

What can be donated

One kidneyPart of the liverPart of a lungPancreasIntestine
Donation after brain death

A lasting legacy of hope.

When a person is declared legally dead from complete, irreversible loss of brain function, their healthy organs can be transplanted to patients waiting for a chance to live.

Why it matters

  • A single donor can save up to eight lives.
  • Medical support keeps organs viable for transplantation.
  • Families find meaning and comfort in helping others.

At 22, Wadaba is fighting for the chance to have a future.

He lives with intussusception, a condition in which part of the intestine slides into another, blocking digestion and cutting off blood flow. It is severe. It is also fixable. Until it is fixed, he depends on ongoing medical care just to get through the day.

The Alliance launched a GoFundMe to cover his treatment, medications, rides to appointments, nutritional support, and the everyday things that fall away when someone is this sick. No donation is too small — even $5 tells Wadaba he isn't fighting this alone.

Donate on GoFundMe

Wadaba's fundraiser is hosted on GoFundMe, which handles those gifts directly. To support the Alliance's wider work with organ failure patients, give through our donation form below.
